Preparing your phone to use Simtext
Before joining Simtext, please ensure:
1. Your GPRS settings are correctly configured (see 'Testing your GPRS settings' below). 2. You have sufficient calling credit on your mobile (if you are a prepay mobile user).
Testing your GPRS settings:
If you can view internet (WAP) pages such as www.bbc.co.uk on your mobile then your GPRS settings are correctly configured. If you are still not sure whether your settings are correct, and would like to test them, follow these instructions:
Open your internet or WAP browser and enter an internet site (eg www.bbc.co.uk). Open the link either as a bookmark or just go to the URL.
Your phone will then establish a GPRS connection. If you can see the site you entered once you have made a connection, your GPRS settings are correctly configured.
If you get an error message or are unable to see the site you entered your settings may not be configured correctly. If so, contact your service provider for further assistance, click here for details. Alternatively you may wish to have new settings sent to your phone using this WAP configurator.
Checking your calling credit:
If you are a pay as you go mobile
user, you will need to have calling credit available on your mobile phone
to use Simtext. Your balance can be obtained by dialing the number provided
to you by your service provider.

If your GPRS settings are correctly configured, you can join Simtext
by sending us a text message. Go to www.simtext.com to follow the process.
Once our system has received this request, we will send you a WAP push
message containing a link which will allow you to download Simtext onto
your mobile.
Once you have recieved
your WAP push message you should choose open and download to go to the
link in the message. This will connect through to Simtext and you may
be asked whether you want to download or Save Simtext, Accept this.
Finding Simtext on your phone
Simtext is usually stored in the Applications, Entertainment or Games
& More folder. Navigate to this folder where you will see Simtext
located. Highlight Simtext and open the application. You may want to create
a shortcut, to Simtext to make it easier to find in the future. Your phone
instruction manual will be able to help you.
Shortcuts and additional settings
Once Simtext has been installed successfully on your mobile phone, you
may wish to:
1. Create a shortcut to Simtext - to make it easier to access
2. Set 'Web access' to 'Allow' - to allow messages
to be sent more easily
Creating a shortcut to Simtext: You should
set up a shortcut to Simtext to make it easier to open and use. Your phone
instruction manual will be able to help you.
Set
‘Web Access’ to ‘Allow’: Some phones ask
for confirmation each time they set up a data connection. If this is the
case on your phone you should be able to set your web access to 'always
allow' or 'allow - ask once'. To do this you may be able to choose the option
before you open Simtext by highlighting it and choosing 'Options', alternatively
your phone manual will help you.
Troubleshooting
Problems downloading Simtext
If you receive the WAP push message from Simtext, but are unable to successfully
download the software onto your mobile, you can download the application
manually.
The WAP push message which
you were sent will link you through to Simtext so you can download the application.
WAP push messages are usually known as Service Messages, Push Messages or
Browser Messages. You will probably find the message either in your normal
Inbox, in your Services Inbox or in your Browser/Internet settings menu.
When you have found the message open it and follow the prompts to connect
and download Simtext.
