Getting Started
This website has been designed as a simple guide to help you get started
using Simtext. If this site does not answer your query, you may contact
us via email at customerservices@simtext.com.
This chapter contains the following:
Preparing your phone to use Simtext
Before joining Simtext, please ensure:
1. Your GPRS settings are correctly configured (see 'Testing your
GPRS settings' below).
2. You have sufficient calling credit on your mobile (if you are a prepay
mobile user).
Testing your GPRS settings:
If you can view internet (WAP) pages such as www.bbc.co.uk on your mobile then your GPRS settings are correctly configured. If you are still not sure whether your settings are correct, and would like to test them, follow these instructions:
First press the ‘Menu’ key to open the main menu. Then scroll
up to 'Funbox' and scroll to 'WAP Browser'. Choose 'http://' and enter
a website to try and connect to (eg www.bbc.co.uk) then press OK.
Your phone will then establish a GPRS connection. If you can see the
site you entered once you have made a connection, your GPRS settings are
correctly configured.
If you get an error message or are unable to see the site you entered
your settings may not be configured correctly. If so, contact your service provider for further assistance,
click here for details. Alternatively you may wish to have new settings
sent to your phone using this WAP
configurator.
Checking your calling credit:
If you are a pay as you go mobile
user, you will need to have calling credit available on your mobile phone
to use Simtext. Your balance can be obtained by dialing the number provided
to you by your service provider.
Registering and Downloading Simtext
If your GPRS settings are correctly configured, you can join Simtext
by sending us a text message. Go to www.simtext.com to follow the process.
Once our system has received this request, we will send you a WAP push
message containing a link which will allow you to download Simtext onto
your mobile.
Once you have recieved
your WAP push message you should choose 'View' and 'Connect'. The phone
will establish a GPRS connection, confirm that you want to Download Simtext
if asked and Simtext will download automatically.
Finding Simtext on your phone
Simtext is stored in the ‘My Games & More’ folder on
your mobile. To access this first press the ‘Menu’ key to
be taken to the phones main menu, and scroll right to 'Downloads', then
scroll down to 'My Games & More' where you will see Simtext located.
Highlight Simtext and choose 'Launch'. See below to create a shortcut.
Shortcuts and additional settings
Once Simtext has been installed successfully on your mobile phone, you
may wish to:
1. Create a shortcut to Simtext - to make it easier to access
2. Set 'Web access' to 'Allow' - to allow messages
to be sent more easily
Creating a shortcut to Simtext: You can access
Simtext via the menu shortcut by pressing menu followed by the menu options
you need to select to get to Simtext. So press 'Menu' followed by 7, 3,
1 and then the number next to Simtext. This will automatically open Simtext.
Set
‘Web Access’ to ‘Allow’: On your phone this
option is not relevant and messages will always be sent automatically.
Troubleshooting
Problems downloading Simtext
If you receive the WAP push message from Simtext, but are unable to successfully
download the software onto your mobile, you can download the application
manually.
This is achieved by selecting
Menu 7, 2, 6, 1 (Funbox, WAP Browser, Push Messages, Inbox). You will see
a service message from Simtext. Highlight the message, choose 'View' and
then choose 'Connect'. Your phone will then establish a GPRS connection,
and you will be taken to a Simtext WAP page. Wait several seconds, and the
application will download automatically. However, if you’re still
unable to access the WAP page, your GPRS settings maybe incorrect. See ‘Testing
your GPRS settings’ for more information.
